📌 QUICK ANSWER
The Agra to Vrindavan distance is around 70 to 75 km by road, about 2 hours depending on traffic, since Vrindavan sits just beyond Mathura. Mathura is the midpoint at 55 to 60 km from Agra and Vrindavan is a short 10 to 15 km further. Experience My India runs the combined Agra Mathura Vrindavan tour from ₹5,999 per person. The distance and drive time
Leg | Approx distance | Approx drive |
Agra to Vrindavan | 70 to 75 km | around 2 hours |
Agra to Mathura | 55 to 60 km | around 1.5 hours |
Mathura to Vrindavan | 10 to 15 km | a short hop |
Delhi to Vrindavan | 155 to 170 km | around 3 hours |
These are a guide; traffic and the day change the real time. The drive is straightforward and the only slow part is the last stretch into Vrindavan's old lanes.
I am Gurudutt, born in Gokul. The Agra to Vrindavan run is short and easy, which is exactly why so many travellers fold the Taj and Krishna's land into one trip.

The route through Mathura
You reach Vrindavan from Agra by going through Mathura, since the two Braj towns sit a short hop apart. From Agra you head north on the highway to Mathura, take darshan there if you wish, then carry on the final 10 to 15 km to Vrindavan. From the Delhi side, the Yamuna Expressway corridor brings you to Mathura first as well.
🪔 Tip from Gurudutt: if you are coming for the Vrindavan evening aarti, you can leave Agra later in the day and still arrive in time, because the drive is only around 2 hours. I plan the day around the aarti, not a fixed clock.
Vrindavan's lanes need an e-rickshaw
Once you reach Vrindavan, remember that cars are restricted in the inner lanes during the rush, so the last stretch to temples like Banke Bihari is by e-rickshaw or on foot. The charge is small and paid on the day. Darshan at every temple is free; only the Taj ticket back in Agra is paid, to the government.
