📌 QUICK ANSWER
A good Vrindavan sightseeing itinerary is built around three things: how long you have, who you are travelling with and the temple windows. Most visitors do a half day, a full day or two days, covering Banke Bihari, the old town temples, ISKCON, Prem Mandir and Keshi Ghat. The best itinerary is not a fixed list, it is one shaped to your pace, your group and your devotion. Here are sample plans and how we customize them for you.
Key takeaways
No two pilgrims want the same Vrindavan, so the right itinerary is a customized one.
Half day, full day or two days are the usual shapes, all built around the temple windows.
Sequence around the midday closure, since the temples shut for a few hours in the afternoon.
Tailor it to your group: seniors, families and spiritual seekers each need a different plan.
We build it for you free of cost and handle the car, the lanes and the timing.
Every traveller imagines a different Vrindavan. A family wants the gardens of Prem Mandir and the calm of ISKCON. A senior pilgrim wants a gentle pace and a vehicle that waits. A devotee wants the old Goswami temples and a quiet hour at Seva Kunj. A first timer just wants to see the famous places without getting lost in the lanes. That is exactly why a fixed, copy paste itinerary disappoints so many people. A customized Vrindavan sightseeing itinerary fits the town to you, not you to the town. I am Gurudutt, born in Gokul beside Vrindavan andI have built these plans for pilgrims since 2018. Below are sample itineraries you can use and the easy way to have yours tailored and driven. How to build a Vrindavan sightseeing itinerary
Three questions shape every plan:
How long do you have? A half day, a full day or two days each cover a different amount.
Who is travelling? Seniors, families, couples and devotees each need a different pace and choice of stops.
What matters most to you? The famous darshan, the quiet old temples, the gardens and architecture or the parikrama.
Answer those three, sequence around the temple windows and the itinerary almost writes itself. Then we slot in the car, the lanes and the timing.
The sightseeing places to choose from
These are the building blocks of any Vrindavan itinerary.
Banke Bihari, the most beloved temple, is best early on a non festival morning.
Radha Raman and Radha Damodar, the intimate old Goswami temples, deeply devotional.
ISKCON Krishna Balaram, calm, with kirtan and gardens.
Prem Mandir, the marble temple that glows after dark, with lawns families love.
Nidhivan, the mystical grove, is open by day and closed after dark. See Nidhivan opening time.
Keshi Ghat, the loveliest ghat for the evening Yamuna aarti.
Seva Kunj, Rangji Temple and the Vaishno Devi Dham, for those wanting more.

Sample half day itinerary
Best if you arrive late or have only a morning or evening.
Morning half day: Banke Bihari early for darshan, then the nearby old temples of Radha Raman and Radha Damodar, then ISKCON for its calm before the midday closure.
Evening half day: ISKCON in the late afternoon as the temples reopen, then Prem Mandir for the evening and its light display, ending at Keshi Ghat for the Yamuna aarti.
Sample full day itinerary
The most popular shape, built around the midday break.
Early morning: Banke Bihari for the first, lighter darshan.
Morning: the old town temples, Radha Raman, Radha Damodar andNidhivan by day.
Midday: the temple break. Use it for lunch and rest, since the temples close.
Afternoon: ISKCON as it reopens, calm and unhurried.
Evening: Prem Mandir for the light display, then Keshi Ghat for the evening aarti.
This is a full but comfortable day and it is the spine we customize for most guests.
Sample two day itinerary
For a calmer pace or to add the wider Braj.
Day one: the full day Vrindavan plan above, unhurried.
Day two: add Mathura, Janmabhoomi, Dwarkadhish and Vishram Ghat and either Gokul for Krishna's infancy or Govardhan for the parikrama.
To sequence the towns, see the Mathura Vrindavan Gokul Barsana map and for fitting it to your days, how many days you need.
Customizing for your group
This is where a tailored itinerary earns its keep.
For seniors: a private car that waits, fewer stops a day, the calmer temples and a vehicle parikrama at Govardhan if added. Gentle pace, rest built in.
For families with children: Prem Mandir's lawns, ISKCON's space, a fun e-rickshaw ride through the lanes and shorter darshan queues by going early.
For devotees and seekers: the Goswami temples, Seva Kunj, a quiet hour of bhajan and the parikrama if time allows.
For first timers: the famous places in the right order, with a guide so you do not lose time in the lanes.
For photographers: Prem Mandir after dark, the Rangji architecture andKeshi Ghat at the aarti, timed for the light.
Tell us which of these is you and we shape the plan around it.
Getting around and timing
Cars cannot enter the inner lanes near Banke Bihari, so your vehicle parks at the perimeter near Prem Mandir or Chhatikara and you continue by e-rickshaw or on foot, about ₹20 to ₹50 a ride, agreed first. The single rule that makes or breaks a Vrindavan itinerary is the midday closure: keep darshan to the morning and evening and put travel, food and rest in the middle. A local driver and guide save you the most time exactly here.
Cost and how to book
Building the itinerary is free. What you pay for is the car, the guide and the stay, since darshan itself is free. The cost depends on your days, group size and comfort level, so rather than quote a number that goes stale, we send an itemised price for your exact plan. For where the money goes, see Mathura Vrindavan trip cost and for current rates and to book, the tour packages page or a message on WhatsApp.
Honest sightseeing truths
Darshan is free. No genuine itinerary or guide sells a temple pass.
There is no official VIP or special darshan pass at Banke Bihari and no daily Mangala Aarti there. Anyone selling either is a tout.
Govardhan is circled, never climbed, with a vehicle parikrama for the elderly.
Agree e-rickshaw and auto fares in advance and keep donations to the official temple counter.
Dress modestly and travel light in the crowded lanes, with footwear you can slip off.
