📌 QUICK ANSWER

ISKCON Vrindavan, the Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir, opens for Mangala Aarti before dawn and runs a full daily schedule of aartis through the morning, closes for a long midday break, and reopens in the evening to a night Shayan Aarti, closing around 8:30 PM. Unlike Banke Bihari nearby, this temple does hold a genuine Mangala Aarti every single day, which is the real reason to come before dawn. Entry is completely free, the dress code is stricter than it looks, and the calm, wide compound makes it the best first stop for a first-time visitor to Vrindavan. Key takeaways

  • ISKCON Vrindavan holds a genuine daily Mangala Aarti before dawn, unlike Banke Bihari.

  • The day runs as a fixed sequence of aartis, a long midday closure, then an evening session to Shayan.

  • Entry is completely free. There is no ticket and no VIP pass.

  • The dress code is strict, so cover shoulders and knees fully.

  • The wide, clean compound makes it the ideal first stop before the old town lanes.

  • It stands in Raman Reti and is easy to reach by road, with parking, a restaurant and a guesthouse on site.

I am Gurudutt, born in Gokul, in the heart of Braj, guiding pilgrims since 2018. I send almost every first-time guest to ISKCON first, because it is calm, organised and gentle on people who have just arrived and are not yet ready for the crush of the old lanes. It is also the one major temple in Vrindavan where the pre-dawn Mangala Aarti happens every day, so if that ceremony is what you have travelled for, this is where you attend it. If you want your morning timed to catch it, Plan the whole Vrindavan darshan circuit end to end with our Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package, timed so you catch the aartis at ISKCON without missing the old town temples. message us on WhatsApp at +91 7302265809, any day from 8 AM to 9 PM.

ISKCON Vrindavan aarti and darshan schedule

The temple follows a fixed daily sequence of aartis rather than open darshan windows, with a long closure through the middle of the day. The exact minutes shift a little with the season, and the pre-dawn Mangala Aarti in particular moves earlier or later, so treat the table as the working schedule and confirm on the day.

Daily aarti and darshan schedule. Minutes shift by season and on festival days, so verify on the day and confirm at the temple.

Why ISKCON is the best first stop

Old Vrindavan is narrow, crowded and disorienting for someone who has just stepped off a train. ISKCON is the opposite: wide clean paths, clear signage, a multilingual information desk, shoe and cloak facilities that work, and a calm compound where you can orient yourself before you enter the old lanes. I start most first-time guests here for exactly that reason. Come for a morning aarti, have breakfast at Govinda's, and then move into the old town for Banke Bihari and the Goswami temples once your feet and your bearings are ready.

The temple and its deities

ISKCON Vrindavan, the Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir, was established in 1975 by Srila Prabhupada, the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, and it was one of his own dearest projects. The main altar holds three deity pairs: Krishna and Balaram, Radha and Shyamasundar, and Gaura and Nitai. Within the compound stands the samadhi mandir of Srila Prabhupada himself, a white marble shrine worth the quiet few minutes it asks of you. The temple is known across the world for its continuous kirtan, and standing in that sound at the morning Mangala Aarti is the single experience I most recommend here.

Is the Mangala Aarti really daily here?

Yes, and this is the honest distinction worth travelling for. ISKCON Vrindavan holds a genuine Mangala Aarti before dawn every single day. This is exactly what the beloved Banke Bihari temple does not do; there the pre-dawn Mangala Aarti happens only on rare festival days. So if a daily Mangala Aarti is what you have come to Vrindavan for, attend it here at ISKCON, and keep Banke Bihari for its morning opening. A guide is worth having precisely so you do not travel for a ceremony that is not held on the day you arrive.

How to reach ISKCON Vrindavan

Vrindavan sits about ten to twelve kilometres from Mathura, roughly twenty five minutes by road, and Mathura Junction is the nearest railhead at about thirteen to seventeen kilometres. Unlike the old town temples, ISKCON is in the more open Raman Reti area and is reachable by road with parking, which is another reason it suits families, elders and first arrivals. If you need a vehicle for the day, our Mathura Vrindavan taxi service covers it, and the ISKCON guesthouse and the hotels of Raman Reti make this a comfortable base; compare areas on our Mathura Vrindavan hotels page.

The Vrindavan circuit this temple belongs to

The natural order is ISKCON first, for the morning aarti and to orient yourself, then into the old lanes for Banke Bihari at its opening and the Goswami temples, keeping the grove of Nidhivan and the evening lights of Prem Mandir for later in the day. For the full order and the wider roster of shrines, see our guide to the places to visit in Vrindavan and the complete temples of Mathura and Vrindavan.

Festivals at ISKCON Vrindavan

ISKCON keeps the great Vaishnava festivals with real intensity: Janmashtami, Radha Ashtami, Gaura Purnima and the Kartik month of lamps, along with the Jhulan Yatra swings in the monsoon. On these days the schedule extends, the kirtan runs deep into the night, and the crowd swells, so the timings above will not hold and you should confirm before you travel. The whole Braj festival calendar is on our Mathura Vrindavan festivals page.

Why Experience My India is the right choice

I was born in Gokul Mahaban Bangar and I have guided Braj since 2018: more than 50,000 pilgrims, 4.5 stars across 204 Google reviews. We are WhatsApp first, 8 AM to 9 PM daily. At ISKCON a guide is not there to buy you access, because entry is free and there is no pass. A guide is there to get you to the Mangala Aarti at the right pre-dawn minute, to sequence ISKCON with the old town so you are never fighting the crowd twice, and to make the day gentle for elders and children.

Tip from Gurudutt: come for the Mangala Aarti even if you are not a morning person. Standing in the kirtan in the half light before dawn, before the town wakes, is the calmest and most powerful thirty minutes ISKCON offers, and it is completely free.
