📌 QUICK ANSWER
Prem Mandir Vrindavan opens at 5:30 AM and closes at 12:00 PM for the morning session; the evening session runs from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM (both summer and winter). The light and sound show runs daily from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM and illuminates the entire temple complex. A VIP darshan pass is available at the temple counter for ₹100 per person and reduces queue wait from 45–60 minutes to under 10 minutes. Entry to the main temple is free. Prem Mandir is one of Vrindavan's most visited temples — a white marble complex built by Jagadguru Kripaluji Maharaj, covering 54 acres on the Raman Reti Road. Every day, thousands of pilgrims arrive at its gates, and a significant number of them lose 45 minutes to a closed gate, stand in the wrong queue, or miss the light and sound show because no one told them it starts at 7:00 PM, not after 9:00 PM.
I am Gurudutt, born and raised in Braj Bhoomi and the founder of Experience My India. Since 2018, I have guided more than 50,000+ pilgrims through Mathura and Vrindavan, including Prem Mandir as a regular stop on our tours. I have seen pilgrims arrive at 12:30 PM to find the gates shut, pay for a VIP pass they did not need, and miss the most spectacular part of the visit — the illuminated evening show — because their itinerary ended at 6:30 PM.
This guide gives you every timing, every pass detail, and every logistical reality of Prem Mandir Vrindavan — so your visit flows from the moment you arrive to the moment the lights come on. You will also find direct links to Experience My India's tour packages that include Prem Mandir in a properly sequenced itinerary.
Prem Mandir Vrindavan — Overview
Prem Mandir was inaugurated in February 2012 after 11 years of construction. The complex is built entirely from Italian white marble and Rajasthani stone, with intricate carvings depicting scenes from the life of Radha Krishna and Ram Sita. The main temple enshrines Shri Radha Govind on the ground floor and Shri Sita Ram on the first floor.
The complex is managed by Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat and operates entirely on donation — there is no mandatory entry fee. The outer garden, fountains, and 84-panel tableau showing Krishna Leelas are open to visitors throughout the day. The inner sanctum has a separate darshan window.
At Experience My India, Prem Mandir features in every Vrindavan itinerary we build — typically as the evening anchor, combining the 5:30 PM darshan with the 7:00 PM light show in a single 2.5-hour block. Call +91-7302265809, 7300620809 for any questions before you plan.
Prem Mandir Timings — Summer and Winter Schedule
Prem Mandir Opening Time and closing schedule change between summer and winter. The temple follows a two-session pattern with an afternoon closure, like most major temples in Vrindavan.
Session | Summer Timings (March–October) | Winter Timings (November–February) |
Morning Opening | 5:30 AM | 5:30 AM |
Morning Closing | 12:00 PM | 12:00 PM |
Evening Opening | 4:30 PM | 4:30 PM |
Evening Closing | 8:30 PM | 8:30 PM |
Light Show Start | 7:00 PM | 7:15 PM |
Light Show End | 8:00 PM | 8:00 PM |
Important: Timings shift during major festivals including Janmashtami, Radhashtami, Holi, and Ekadashi. On Janmashtami, Prem Mandir opens at midnight and darshan continues through the night. Always confirm timings the morning of your visit. Experience My India's guides track real-time changes — call +91-7302265809, 7300620809 before arriving on any festival date.
The best visiting window at Prem Mandir is 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. This covers the evening darshan, the garden walk, and the complete light and sound show in one visit. Morning visits (7:00 AM to 11:00 AM) are ideal for darshan without crowds but miss the illuminated display.

Prem Mandir Aarti Schedule
Prem Mandir holds five aarti sessions daily. Each aarti has a specific character — the Mangala Aarti at dawn is the most intimate; the Shayan Aarti at closing is the most devotionally charged.
Aarti Name | Time | Notes |
Mangala Aarti | 5:30 AM | First darshan of the day; very small crowds |
Shringar Aarti | 8:00 AM | Deity adorned for the day; moderate crowds |
Rajbhog Aarti | 11:30 AM | Last aarti before afternoon closure; gates close at 12:00 PM |
Sandhya Aarti | 5:30 PM | First evening aarti; precedes the light show |
Shayan Aarti | 8:00–8:15 PM | Final aarti; temple closes at 8:30 PM |
Pilgrim advice from Gurudutt: The Sandhya Aarti at 5:30 PM is the ideal entry point for an evening visit. Arrive by 5:15 PM, attend the aarti inside the sanctum, walk the garden tableau (approximately 40 minutes), and be positioned near the main facade by 7:00 PM for the light show. This sequence fits entirely within the evening session without rushing.
At Experience My India, we sequence all Vrindavan itineraries around these aarti windows. Explore our Vrindavan Tour Packages to see how we structure the evening block.
Prem Mandir VIP Pass — Price, Process and What You Get
Prem Mandir VIP Pass allows pilgrims to enter through a dedicated queue, bypassing the general darshan line. On weekends and during festivals, the general queue at Prem Mandir can run 45–60 minutes. The VIP pass reduces this to under 10 minutes.
Detail | Information |
VIP Pass Price | ₹100 per person |
Where to Buy | Temple counter, main entrance gate |
Availability | Daily, both sessions |
Queue Benefit | Dedicated VIP darshan lane |
Advance Booking | Not available — counter only, on arrival |
Valid For | Single entry, same session |
When is the VIP pass worth it?
On weekends (Saturday and Sunday): Yes — general queues regularly exceed 45 minutes.
During Ekadashi, Janmashtami, Radhashtami, and Holi: Yes — essential. Queues can reach 90–120 minutes.
On weekday mornings (6:00–9:00 AM): Not needed — general queue is under 15 minutes.
On weekday evenings (5:00–6:30 PM): Depends — check the queue on arrival before purchasing.
One thing most online guides miss: The VIP pass at Prem Mandir is a queue-jump pass for darshan, not a separate access area. Both VIP and general pilgrims see the same deity, the same decoration, and the same aarti. The ₹100 is worth it only when the general queue is visibly long.
Experience My India guides assess the queue on arrival and advise each pilgrim individually on whether the VIP pass is needed that day. Call +91-7302265809,7300620809 before your visit — our team can tell you expected crowd levels for your specific date.
Light and Sound Show — Timings, Duration and What to Expect
The Prem Mandir light and sound show is the most visually distinctive experience in Vrindavan. The entire marble temple facade and surrounding gardens are illuminated with coloured LED lights that cycle through patterns and colours, accompanied by devotional music.
Detail | Information |
Summer Show Start | 7:00 PM |
Winter Show Start | 7:15 PM |
Duration | Approximately 45–60 minutes |
Show End | 8:00 PM (both seasons) |
Entry During Show | Allowed — garden access is free |
Best Viewing Position | Front lawn, facing the main temple facade |
Photography | Allowed in garden during show |
What the show actually looks like: The marble complex changes through multiple colour sequences — starting with warm gold and shifting through blue, pink, and white. The fountains in the garden are lit simultaneously. The main spire (approximately 73 metres) is the centrepiece of the display. On Sundays and during festival periods, the colour cycling is more elaborate.
Practical note: Seating is not provided. Pilgrims stand or sit on the lawn. The front-centre position (50–80 metres from the main gate) gives the best unobstructed view. Arrive by 6:45 PM to secure this position on weekends.
The light show is the reason Experience My India recommends a minimum 2.5-hour evening block for Prem Mandir — darshan (30–45 minutes) + garden walk (30–40 minutes) + light show (45–60 minutes). Explore our Mathura Vrindavan Tour to see how this block fits into a full-day itinerary.

How to Reach Prem Mandir Vrindavan
Prem Mandir is located on Raman Reti Road, Vrindavan, approximately 3 km from Banke Bihari Temple and 14 km from Mathura Junction railway station.
From | Distance | Estimated Travel Time | Mode |
Mathura Junction (railway) | 14 km | 35–50 minutes | Auto / cab |
Banke Bihari Temple | 3 km | 20–35 minutes | E-rickshaw |
ISKCON Vrindavan | 1.5 km | 10–20 minutes | E-rickshaw / walk |
Delhi (Yamuna Expressway) | 155 km | 2.5–3 hours | Car |
Agra | 65 km | 1.5–2 hours | Car |
Parking: Prem Mandir has a dedicated parking area on Raman Reti Road for cars and buses. Private cars can reach this point — unlike the inner lanes near Banke Bihari where car access is restricted.
By e-rickshaw from Banke Bihari: The standard fare is ₹20–₹30 per person. The route via Chatikara Road adds approximately 10 minutes compared to the direct lane route; ask the e-rickshaw driver to take the direct Raman Reti route.
For groups arriving from Delhi or Agra, Experience My India's 2 Days Vrindavan Tour Package includes private car pickup, drop, and a driver who navigates the Vrindavan lane system without adding unnecessary detours.
Ground Truth — What Nobody Tells You Before You Visit
After 7+ years and 50,000+ pilgrims, here are the realities of Prem Mandir that most online guides do not say out loud:
1. The light show ends before the temple closes. The show runs from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and the temple is open until 8:30 PM. Most pilgrims leave after the show ends, which means the 8:00–8:30 PM window inside the sanctum is significantly less crowded. If you want a calm final darshan, enter after 8:00 PM.
2. The VIP pass queue sometimes merges with the general queue near the sanctum door. At very high footfall times (Sunday evenings, Ekadashi), both queues converge at the final 15 metres before the deity. The ₹100 VIP pass saves you the outer wait but not always the inner bottleneck.
3. The marble floor heats up significantly between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM in summer. April through June, the marble surface reaches temperatures that make barefoot walking uncomfortable. If you have a morning visit planned in summer, go before 9:30 AM or carry a small cloth to stand on.
4. The 84 Krishna Leela panels in the garden take 35–40 minutes to walk through properly. Most pilgrims skip this because they are rushing for darshan. These panels — carved scenes from the Bhagavatam — are among the finest details of the complex and are worth the time. Budget for them separately from darshan.
5. Prasadam is distributed at Prem Mandir but not on a fixed schedule. It is available after the major aarti sessions, particularly after Rajbhog Aarti at 11:30 AM and after Sandhya Aarti at 5:30 PM. If prasadam is important to you, plan your visit to end at one of these windows.
Call +91-7302265809, 7300620809 and speak with Gurudutt or the Experience My India team before your visit. We will tell you exactly what is happening at Prem Mandir on your travel date — crowd levels, any special festival programming, and whether the VIP pass is worth it that day.
Know Before You Plan
Before visiting Prem Mandir, here are a few things the Experience My India team recommends after helping thousands of pilgrims plan smoother visits:
Plan your visit around the two-session structure — the temple closes from 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Arriving at 1:00 PM means waiting over 3 hours at the gate.
The evening session (4:30 PM to 8:30 PM) is the more complete experience — it covers darshan, the garden tableau, and the light show in one visit.
Carry small-denomination cash (₹10, ₹20, ₹50) for the VIP pass counter, donations, and e-rickshaw fares — card machines are not available inside the complex.
Prem Mandir is 3 km from Banke Bihari Temple. Plan at least 20–35 minutes between visits, not including darshan time.
The light show draws larger crowds on Saturdays, Sundays, and Ekadashi dates. If you prefer a quieter show experience, plan a Tuesday or Wednesday evening visit.
Families with children and senior pilgrims: Prem Mandir has the most accessible terrain of Vrindavan's major temples — the pathways are paved, wide, and even. It is a good choice for groups with limited mobility.
At Experience My India, we adjust the Prem Mandir timing block seasonally based on current temple schedules. Our guides confirm all timings on the morning of each tour — call +91-7302265809 / 7300620809 before your visit.
