📌 QUICK ANSWER

A Delhi Agra Mathura Vrindavan trip weaves together four of north India's greatest experiences: the culture of Delhi, the timeless beauty of the Taj Mahal in Agra and the Krishna temples of Mathura and Vrindavan. It is best enjoyed over three to four days, travelling south by private car down the Yamuna Expressway. The Taj is ticketed and closed on Fridays, while every temple darshan in Mathura and Vrindavan is free. It is the fullest way to see culture, temples and timeless beauty in one journey. To have the whole trip arranged, call or WhatsApp +91 7302265809.

  • It is best enjoyed over three to four days by private car.

I am Gurudutt, born in Gokul, in the heart of Braj, guiding travellers and pilgrims since 2018: more than 50,000 of them. A Delhi Agra Mathura Vrindavan trip is the grand journey of north India, the capital, the Taj and the land of Krishna, all in one sweep of culture, temples and timeless beauty. This guide shows you how to plan it well: the four destinations, a simple multi-day flow and the honest practicalities. To have it all shaped for you see durations and prices and book, on our Mathura Vrindavan Tour Package page.message us on WhatsApp at +91 7302265809, any day from 8 AM to 9 PM.

The four destinations

Each stop on this trip brings something different and together they make a whole. The table shows what each offers.

The four destinations of the trip and what each brings.

Destination

What it brings

Delhi

The capital’s history and culture and the gateway to the journey

Agra

The Taj Mahal, timeless marble beauty and Agra Fort

Mathura

The birthplace of Krishna and its ancient temples

Vrindavan

The town of Krishna’s childhood, full of temples

A simple multi day flow

Because the four sit in a line south of Delhi, the trip flows naturally from the capital to Agra, then back up through Mathura and Vrindavan. The table shows a simple shape; your exact plan can flex to your days and interests.

A simple multi day flow for the Delhi Agra Mathura Vrindavan Tour. Your operator plans the exact schedule.

Day

Focus

Day 1

Arrive in Delhi, see a little of the capital or travel south to Agra

Day 2

Agra: the Taj Mahal at its opening, optionally Agra Fort

Day 3

Mathura and Vrindavan: the Krishna temples and the ghats

Optional Day 4

A slower day for Gokul, Govardhan or Barsana

Delhi: the starting point

Most journeys begin in Delhi, the capital and the main gateway by air and rail. If you have time before travelling south, the city rewards a little culture, its Mughal monuments, its markets and its museums. But many travellers simply arrive and set off down the Yamuna Expressway the same day, saving their days for Agra and Braj. Either way, Delhi is where the trip begins.

Agra: timeless beauty

Agra holds the timeless beauty of the trip: the Taj Mahal, built by Shah Jahan in memory of Mumtaz Mahal, at its most beautiful in the soft morning light. Two honest points matter here. The Taj is ticketed, a paid monument best booked ahead and it is closed every Friday, so never plan your Agra day on a Friday. The red sandstone Agra Fort nearby pairs well if time allows. For the route down, see our Delhi to Mathura Vrindavan distance and travel options guide.

Mathura: Krishna's birthplace

Turning from the marble of Agra to the devotion of Braj, Mathura is the birthplace of Krishna. The Krishna Janmabhoomi stands on the site of the prison where he was born; the grand Dwarkadhish Temple, built in 1814, is the town’s principal shrine; and Vishram Ghat glows at the evening Yamuna aarti. Unlike the Taj, every temple darshan here is free. Our guide to the Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura tells its story.

Vrindavan: the town of temples

A short drive from Mathura, Vrindavan is the town of Krishna’s childhood and the richest in temples. Banke Bihari is the most beloved; ISKCON’s Krishna Balaram compound is calm; Prem Mandir is a marble wonder after dark; and Nidhivan holds the atmosphere of the nightly raas. All darshan is free. Our guide to Banke Bihari temple covers its timings and the calm way in.

How many days and a one day option

Three to four days let this trip breathe: a day around Delhi and Agra, a day or two in Mathura and Vrindavan and a slower fourth for the wider Braj. If your time is very short, the Taj and Mathura can be seen in a single long day, though it is a rush. For that compressed version, our one day Mathura Vrindavan itinerary shows the tightest sensible plan.

The best time to go

The cooler months of October to March are the most comfortable for the whole trip, with clear morning light for the Taj and pleasant days for the temples. Kartik in autumn is the most devotional season in Braj and the great festivals are magnificent but very crowded. Whichever you choose, avoid Fridays for Agra, when the Taj is closed. Our guide to the best time to visit Mathura Vrindavan lays out the seasons.

Getting around

A private car is what ties this trip together, carrying you from Delhi to Agra and up through Mathura and Vrindavan on the smooth Yamuna Expressway and between the temple towns at your own pace. Trains serve each city too, but a car spares you the changes and the local transfers. Our Mathura Vrindavan taxi service covers the whole route and local travel.

The honest bit

This trip holds one paid wonder and a land of free devotion and it helps to know the difference. The Taj Mahal is ticketed and closed on Fridays; that is legitimate and worth every rupee. Everything in Mathura and Vrindavan, though, is free: no one should charge you for darshan or sell you a VIP pass, for there is no official VIP pass for Banke Bihari. Banke Bihari has no daily Mangala Aarti, only rare festival days, while ISKCON holds a genuine one. The Yamuna is revered and, honestly, polluted. Told plainly, the trip is exactly what it promises.

Why Experience My India is the right choice

I was born in Gokul Mahaban Bangar and I have guided this whole route since 2018: more than 50,000 travellers, 4.5 stars across 204 Google reviews. We WhatsApp first, 8 AM to 9 PM daily. We know the Taj timings and the temple hours, the expressway and the quiet lanes and we plan the days so culture, temples and beauty flow into one another rather than blur. Our car is clean and air conditioned, our fare one clear number with the Taj ticket and toll named separately. From the capital to Krishna’s cradle, we make the grand trip easy.

Tip from Gurudutt: give this trip at least three days if you can. Rushing Delhi, Agra and Braj into two leaves you tired and half satisfied; a third day turns a dash into a journey and lets the timeless beauty and the living devotion each have their moment.

Delhi to Govardhan Distance: Routes, Driving Time, Trains and the Best Way to Travel

The distance from Delhi to Govardhan is about 140 to 160 km by road, taking roughly 3.5 hours by car. The shortest and quickest way runs via the Delhi-Chennai Highway (NH 44) in about 140 km, around 3 hours 34 minutes. Note that the Yamuna Expressway route is longer here, because Govardhan lies west of Mathura, so the expressway means doubling back. Govardhan is famous for its 21 km parikrama around the sacred hill. To arrange a car and your Govardhan darshan, call or WhatsApp +91 7302265809.
