📌 QUICK ANSWER

The main Jagannath Puri aartis are the Mangala Aarti (about 5:00 to 5:30 am), the Sandhya (evening) Aarti (around 5:55 pm), and the Shayan Aarti (about 9:00 pm), along with the daily bhogs through the day. General darshan is free, and the temple sells no official online VIP pass, so beware touts. What we genuinely offer, through our trusted local Puri guides, is assisted, well-timed access to witness these aartis and arrange seva where available. Note that non-Hindus are not permitted inside the main temple. To have us help you attend the aarti, call or WhatsApp +91 7302265809.

The aartis of the Jagannath Temple in Puri are among the most moving rituals in all of India, the Lord woken at dawn with the Mangala Aarti, fed through the day with sacred bhogs, and put to rest at night with the Shayan Aarti. To witness them is the heart of a Puri pilgrimage. But the temple is vast, its ritual routine ancient and precise, and the crowds immense, so timing and local knowledge make all the difference. Here is the Jagannath Puri aarti schedule, and how our local Puri guides help you attend. Plan your visit with our Experience My India tour packages.

Key takeaways

  • The main aartis are the Mangala (dawn), Sandhya (evening) and Shayan (night) Aarti.

  • Mangala Aarti is about 5:00 to 5:30 am; Sandhya around 5:55 pm; Shayan about 9:00 pm.

  • Through the day the Lord is offered sacred bhogs, each with its own ritual.

  • General darshan is free; the temple sells no official online VIP pass, so beware touts.

  • Our local Puri guides help you attend the aartis at the right time and arrange seva where available.

  • Non-Hindus are not permitted inside the main temple.

I am Gurudutt of Experience My India. Braj is my home, but we also help devotees reach the great dhams beyond it, and for Puri we work hand in hand with trusted local guides who know the Jagannath temple, its aartis and its ancient ritual routine, the niti, inside out. This guide sets out the aarti schedule honestly and explains exactly how we help you attend, without false promises. Here is everything you need to book and attend the Jagannath Puri aarti.

Jagannath Puri aarti and bhog schedule

The Lord's day at Puri unfolds through a fixed sequence of rituals, the niti, from the dawn Mangala Aarti to the night Shayan. These are the main aartis and bhogs; the exact times shift a little by day and season, so confirm before you go.

The Jagannath Puri aarti and bhog schedule. Times are indicative and shift by day and season; confirm before you go.

The main aartis, explained

Each aarti has its own mood and meaning, and knowing them helps you choose which to attend:

  • Mangala Aarti: the first and most sacred, performed at dawn as the Lord is woken; the calmest, most powerful hour of the day.

  • The daily bhogs: through the morning and midday the Lord is offered sacred food, the Gopal Ballav, Sakala Dhupa, Bhoga Mandapa and Madhyanha Dhupa, each a ritual in itself, ending in the world-famous Mahaprasad.

  • Sandhya Aarti: the evening aarti, as the lamps are lit and the temple glows, one of the loveliest times to take darshan.

  • Badasinghara and Shayan Aarti: at night the Lord is dressed in the Badasinghara Besha and put to rest with the Shayan (Pahuda) ritual, the tender end of his day.

How we help you attend the aarti

The temple's aartis are part of its ancient, fixed ritual routine, and ordinary darshan of them is free. What genuinely helps, and what our local Puri guides provide, is not a fake pass but real, on-the-ground assistance:

What we arrange

What it means

Assisted aarti darshan

Our local guides time your visit and position you to witness each aarti

Sevayat-assisted access

Timed pickup

Pickup from Puri station or Bhubaneswar airport, timed to the aarti you wish to attend

Local knowledge

The niti schedule, dress code, lockers and prohibited items, so nothing surprises you

Honest guidance, no touts

We never sell a fake official VIP pass; we help you the real, respectful way

How we help you attend the Jagannath Puri aarti, honestly, through our local Puri team.

The honest truth about VIP aarti passes

Let us be honest, because this is where touts prey on devotees. The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration does not sell official online VIP or fast-track aarti passes, and warns pilgrims to beware anyone claiming to. General darshan is free. So when we speak of helping you book the Puri aarti, we mean genuine local assistance, our guides timing your visit, positioning you to witness the aarti, and arranging seva through registered sevayats where it is truly available, not a fake ticket. That honesty is exactly why devotees trust us: we give real help, not false promises. Note too that non-Hindus are not permitted inside the main temple, though they may view it from the Raghunandan Library rooftop, and during Rath Yatra all may see the deities on the chariots.

Tips for attending the aarti

  • For the Mangala Aarti, reach very early; it is the calmest and most sacred of the day.

  • Confirm the day's exact timings before you go, as the niti shifts by day and season.

  • Travel light: phones, cameras and leather items are not allowed inside; use the lockers.

  • Dress modestly and traditionally out of respect for the temple's customs.

  • Beware anyone selling an official VIP pass; there is none, so rely on trusted local guides.

  • Pair the evening Sandhya Aarti with a sunset by the sea at Swargadwar.

Reaching Puri and the best time

Puri is well connected: by train to Puri railway station, close to the temple, or by air to Bhubaneswar (about 60 km) and by road. The best time to visit is October to February, when the weather is cool and pleasant. Note the temple closes during the Anasara period before Rath Yatra (in 2026, roughly 1 to 15 July), so plan your dates if you wish to attend the aartis. Our local team can meet you at the station or airport and time your arrival to the aarti you wish to see.

The honest bit

Honest words, from a team that would rather tell you the truth than sell you a false promise. The aartis of Jagannath are free to witness as part of the temple's daily ritual, and the temple administration sells no official online VIP pass, so treat any such offer with caution. What we provide, through our trusted local Puri guides, is genuine and worth having: well-timed, assisted access to the aartis, seva arranged through registered sevayats where available, a timed pickup, and honest local knowledge, so you witness these sacred moments smoothly and respectfully. Remember too that non-Hindus cannot enter the main temple, and timings shift, so we confirm them for you before you travel.

Why Experience My India

We are Experience My India, a Ministry of Tourism-approved operator. Our roots are in Braj, but we help devotees reach the great dhams of India, and for Puri we partner with trusted local guides who know the Jagannath temple, its aartis and its niti intimately. WhatsApp first, 8 AM to 9 PM daily, 4.5 stars on Google. We time your visit to the aarti you wish to attend, arrange seva where available, meet you at the station or airport, and guide you honestly, with no touts and no fake VIP passes. One clear price, and never a charge for the free darshan itself.

Tip from our team: if you attend only one, make it the Mangala Aarti at dawn. To stand before Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra as they are woken in the first light, before the day's crowds and heat, is the most moving moment the temple can give you. Reach early, let our local guide position you well, and give that dawn hour your whole heart.

Plan your Jagannath Puri aarti darshan

Tell us your dates and which artis you wish to attend, and our local Puri team will time your visit, arrange a smooth assisted darshan and any seva, and meet you at the station or airport, for one clear price. We can plan your whole day in Puri around the aartis you choose. WhatsApp +91 7302265809, any day 8 AM to 9 PM. 4.5 stars on Google.

The Oldest Temples of Mathura and Vrindavan: A Guide to Braj's Ancient Shrines

The oldest temples of Braj fall into two kinds. Mathura's sacred sites are the most ancient of all, the Krishna Janmabhoomi and the guardian Shivas, though their original temples were destroyed and rebuilt over the centuries. Vrindavan's oldest surviving temples are the great ones founded by the Goswamis in the sixteenth century: Radha Damodar and Radha Raman (around 1542), Madan Mohan (around 1580, the oldest temple of Vrindavan) and Govind Dev Ji (around 1590). To visit the ancient temples with a local guide, call or WhatsApp +91 7302265809.
