Here is a short guide to each celebration on the calendar, with a link to the full guide for the ones we have covered in depth.
15 March: Laddu Holi at Barsana
The sweet opening of Braj Holi at the Radha Rani temple: when Nandgaon's acceptance of Barsana's Holi invitation arrives, priests and devotees shower laddus over the singing crowd. See our full Laddu Holi Barsana 2027 guide.
17 & 18 March: Lathmar Holi at Barsana and Nandgaon
The world-famous 'stick Holi', played over two days: at Barsana on 17 March, the women drive off Nandgaon's men with lathis; at Nandgaon on 18 March, the reverse. See our Lathmar Holi Barsana 2027 and Lathmar Holi Nandgaon 2027 guides and our Barsana and Nandgaon guide for the villages.
19 March: Chhadi Mar Holi at Gokul
Gokul's gentle Holi, played with soft chhadis (canes) rather than lathis, because Krishna was a baby here, amid herbal colours and makhan-mishri prasad, around Murlidhar Ghat. See our full Chhadi Mar Holi 2027 Gokul guide.
20 March: Phoolon Wali Holi at Vrindavan
The magical flower Holi at the Banke Bihari temple, when for a brief 20 to 30 minutes the priests shower rose, marigold and jasmine petals over the devotees. Arrive very early; there are no VIP passes. See our full Phoolon Wali Holi 2027 Vrindavan guide.
21 March: Dwarkadhish Holi & Holika Dahan at Mathura
The grand city Holi at Krishna's birthplace, where the Dwarkadhish temple's priests spray saffron tesu water from great brass pichkaris to classical Haveli Sangeet; and in the evening, Holika Dahan bonfires near Vishram Ghat. See our full Holi 2027 in Mathura guide.
22 March: Rangwali Holi (Dhulendi), the main Holi
The main festival of colours, when all of Mathura and Vrindavan, the streets, the temples, the ghats, erupts in gulal, water and joy and everyone plays together. It is Braj at its most exuberant, the colour of divine love made visible across the birthplace of Krishna and his childhood town. Take darshan at the Krishna Janmabhoomi and the Banke Bihari temple amid the colour.
23 March: Dauji Huranga at Baldeo
The famous finale: at the Dauji (Baldev) temple in Baldeo, dedicated to Balarama, Krishna's elder brother, the Huranga is played the day after Holi, in which the women playfully tear the men's clothes and drench them in colour, in a vigorous, joyful celebration unique to Dauji. It is spectacularly close to the Braj Holi. See our Dauji, Baldeo temple guide.

How to plan your Braj Holi 2027
With so many celebrations across the towns, here is honest advice on planning, especially for first-timers and families.
Choose two or three celebrations, not all; you cannot see everything and trying will exhaust you.
A classic choice: the Lathmar Holi (Barsana), the flower Holi (Banke Bihari) and the main Holi.
Book your stay months ahead; Vrindavan and Mathura fill up completely for Holi and prices soar.
Base in Vrindavan or Mathura and travel out to the village celebrations (Barsana is about 45 km).
Confirm exact dates nearer the time, as temple programmes can shift by a day.
For each celebration, arrive early, watch from a safe vantage point and beware touts and fake VIP passes.
Go with a local host who can plan the days, place you safely and move you between the towns.
The honest bit
Honest words from one born in Braj, who hosts guests for Holi every year. Braj Holi is the most joyful, colourful and spiritually charged festival on earth, a week-long celebration that moves town by town through the land where Krishna and Radha played. But it is vast, ecstatic and crowded, not gentle and you cannot see it all. The secret is the calendar and a plan: pick the celebrations that call to you, book far ahead, base yourself well and let a local move you safely between the towns. Dates can shift by a day, as the temples announce them, so confirm nearer the time. Come with a plan and an open heart and Braj Holi will be among the greatest experiences of your life; come unprepared and its scale can overwhelm.
Why Experience My India is the right choice
I was born in Gokul in the Mathura district and every year I host guests, families and international visitors among them, through the whole Braj Holi. Guiding since 2018, more than 50,000 pilgrims, 4.5 stars on Google, WhatsApp first, 8 AM to 9 PM daily. For Holi we secure your stay early, plan your days across Barsana, Nandgaon, Gokul, Vrindavan, Mathura and Baldeo, place you safely for each celebration, move you between the towns and the crowds, look after families and elders and warn you off the touts and their fake VIP passes, with a local's access. One clear fare and a Holi you will never forget.
Tip from Gurudutt: treat this calendar as your map and build a journey through it. You might begin with the sweet Laddu Holi at Barsana, thrill to the Lathmar Holi, find tenderness in Gokul's Chhadi Mar Holi, stand under the rain of flowers at Banke Bihari and end in the colour of the main Holi and the wild joy of the Dauji Huranga. Chosen and paced well, with a local host to carry you between the towns, the week-long Braj Holi is not a festival you watch but a journey you take through the leela of Radha and Krishna.
