📌 QUICK ANSWER

The best way to travel from Bangalore to Vrindavan is to fly to Delhi, about 2 hours 45 minutes, then drive around 3 to 3.5 hours down the Yamuna Expressway to Braj, roughly half a day door to door. If you prefer the train, direct services run to Mathura Junction, the railhead, taking about 31 to 42 hours over two nights; the fastest is the Rajdhani and the Karnataka Express runs daily in about 35 hours. From Delhi or Mathura Junction, Vrindavan is a short drive on. Driving the whole way is impractical. To arrange your pickup and darshan, call or WhatsApp +91 7302265809.

Bangalore to Vrindavan is a long haul, well over 2,000 km, so it needs a little planning, but it is easier than the distance suggests. The sensible way is to fly to Delhi and drive down, which turns the journey into half a day; for those who love the rails, there are direct trains to Mathura Junction, though they are a long two-night ride. Here, from a Braj-born guide who welcomes many travellers from the south, is exactly how to travel from Bangalore to Vrindavan, whichever way suits you. Plan your visit with our Mathura Vrindavan tour packages.

Key takeaways

  • Bangalore to Vrindavan is roughly 2,150 to 2,250 km; there is no direct route, so you travel via Delhi or Mathura.

  • Fastest: fly Bangalore to Delhi (about 2 hr 45 min), then drive 3 to 3.5 hours; about half a day door to door.

  • By train: direct services to Mathura Junction take about 31 to 42 hours over two nights.

  • The fastest train is the Rajdhani (about 31 hours); the Karnataka Express runs daily in about 35 hours.

  • There is no airport or major station in Vrindavan; arrive via Delhi airport or Mathura Junction.

  • Driving the whole way, about 35 to 40 hours, is impractical; fly or take the train.

I am Gurudutt, born in Gokul in the Mathura district, guiding pilgrims through Braj since 2018, more than 50,000 of them and I welcome many who come the long way from Bangalore and the south. I know which trains are quickest, how the flight-and-drive works and how to make the final leg into Vrindavan effortless after a long journey. Here is everything you need to travel from Bangalore to Vrindavan.

The distance from Bangalore to Vrindavan

First, the lie of the land. Vrindavan sits in the Braj region of Uttar Pradesh, between Delhi and Agra, roughly 2,150 to 2,250 km north of Bangalore. It has no airport of its own and no station large enough for long-distance trains, so every journey from Bangalore arrives either at Delhi airport, about 150 km away or at Mathura Junction, the railhead, 14 km from Vrindavan. Knowing that shapes the whole trip: you travel to one of those two gateways, then cover a short last leg.

For a distance this great, flying is by far the best choice. There is no direct flight to Braj, so the route is Bangalore to Delhi, then a road leg down to Vrindavan. It turns a two-day journey into a half-day one and is what I recommend for almost everyone.

  • Bangalore (BLR) to Delhi (DEL): about 2 hours 45 minutes, with very frequent daily flights.

  • Delhi to Mathura and Vrindavan: about 3 to 3.5 hours by road on the Yamuna Expressway.

  • Total: roughly 7 to 8 hours door to door, half a day with airport time.

  • Agra option: a few flights connect towards Agra, about an hour from Braj, but services are limited, so most routes through Delhi.

  • Coming soon: the new Noida International Airport at Jewar will be much closer to Braj once fully operational.

We can meet your flight at Delhi airport and carry you straight down to Vrindavan with our Mathura Vrindavan taxi service, so the road leg is effortless after your flight.

By train: the long, scenic haul

If you love the rails or prefer to save on airfare, direct trains run from Bangalore to Mathura Junction, though be ready for a long two-night journey of some 2,200 km. There is no major station in Vrindavan, so you reach Mathura Junction and drive the last 14 km, about 30 minutes. The main direct trains are below.

Main direct Bangalore to Mathura trains. All arrive on the second or third day; timings are indicative, confirm on IRCTC before booking.

  • Boarding in Bangalore: trains leave from KSR Bengaluru City Junction (SBC), Bangalore Cantonment (BNC), Krishnarajapuram (KJM) and Yesvantpur (YPR).

  • Fares: roughly ₹835 in sleeper up to about ₹5,880 in first-class AC; the Rajdhani is AC-only and dearer.

  • The daily workhorse is the Karnataka Express; the Rajdhani is fastest but runs on select days.

  • Book well ahead: these are popular long-distance trains, so reserve early, especially in festival season.

You can drive or take a bus, but honestly, over such a distance it is impractical. By car the roughly 2,150 km takes about 35 to 40 hours of driving, needing two or three days with overnight halts and long-distance buses are equally tiring. Unless you are set on an epic road trip with days to spare, flying or the train is far better; the road is simply too long for a pilgrimage to Braj from Bangalore.

Which way is best?

For this distance, flying wins for almost everyone; the train is for those who love the rails or want to save on airfare and the road is best avoided. The table sets them side by side.

A quick comparison. Fly for speed and ease; the train is a long haul; the road is impractical.

From Delhi airport or Mathura Junction to Vrindavan

However you arrive, the last leg is short and easy. From Delhi airport it is about 3 to 3.5 hours by road down the Yamuna Expressway; from Mathura Junction it is only 14 km, about 30 minutes. After a long journey from Bangalore, it is far easier to be met than to haggle with local autos and we can receive you at either gateway and carry you to your hotel or straight to the temples in the right order.

What to see when you arrive

Once in Braj, the darshans begin. The most beloved is the Banke Bihari temple, best early and the grand Prem Mandir with its evening light show. Add ISKCON Vrindavan for its continuous kirtan and in nearby Mathura the Krishna Janmabhoomi, the very birthplace of the Lord. Having travelled so far, give yourself two or three days to see Braj properly.

The best time to make the trip

The cool months of October to March are much the best for the journey and for Braj itself, pleasant at the temples and on the road; the summer of April to June is very hot. If you travel for a festival, Janmashtami, Radhashtami, Holi or Diwali, expect Braj to be joyful but crowded and book your flights or train and hotel well ahead, as Bangalore travellers must reserve the long-distance legs early. See our best time to visit Mathura Vrindavan guide for the seasons in full.

Tips for the journey from Bangalore

  • For speed, fly Bangalore to Delhi and arrange a car onward; be met at the airport to save time.

  • For a rail journey or to save airfare, take the Karnataka Express or the Rajdhani to Mathura Junction.

  • Book long-distance trains and flights well ahead, especially for festivals and holidays.

  • Give Braj two to three days, since you have travelled so far to reach it.

  • Carry warm layers in winter and light cottons in summer; north India differs from Bangalore's mild weather.

  • Arrange your Delhi airport or Mathura Junction pickup in advance for a smooth arrival.

The honest bit

Honest words from one born in Braj. Bangalore is a very long way from Vrindavan, so be realistic: flying is the only quick option and even the fastest train is a two-night haul. The times and fares here are approximate and change with the season and demand, so confirm your flight and train live before booking. Having come more than 2,000 km, it would be a pity to rush Braj in a day; stay two or three and let the pilgrimage breathe. If you would rather rest on arrival, see our Mathura Vrindavan hotels; if you are timing a festival, check the Mathura Vrindavan festivals calendar, when everything books out early.

Why Experience My India is the right choice

I was born in Gokul in the Mathura district and I welcome travellers from Bangalore and across the south every week. Guiding since 2018, more than 50,000 pilgrims, 4.5 stars on Google, WhatsApp first, 8 AM to 9 PM daily. Whether you fly into Delhi or take the train to Mathura Junction, we meet you at the gateway, carry you the last leg and around the temples in the right order and, if you wish, build Agra and the wider Braj into your days, with the stories told on the ground and no touts. One clear fare and never a charge for free darshan.

Tip from Gurudutt: if you fly, take a morning flight from Bangalore to Delhi and have a car waiting at the airport; you will reach Braj by evening, rest and wake fresh for the dawn darshan. If you take the train, choose one that reaches Mathura in the morning, so you step off rested and straight into a full day of darshan. Either way, being met at the gateway turns a long journey into an easy one.
