1. Chaurasi Khamba, Mahavan

Across the Yamuna at Mahavan, once called Brihadvan, the great forest, stand the ancient pillars of Chaurasi Khamba, the eighty-four-pillar temple. This is held to be the site of Nanda Bhavan, the home where the infant Krishna first lived, and nearby are the spot where he slew the demoness Putana and the mortar to which mother Yashoda tied him in the Damodar leela.
