📌 QUICK ANSWER

The distance from Rewari to Vrindavan is about 151 to 177 km, roughly 3 to 4 hours by road. Interestingly, the shortest route via NH 44 (about 151 km) is the slowest at around 4 hours, through Delhi, while the route via the Western Peripheral Expressway and NH 44 (about 163 km) is quicker at around 3 hours, skirting the city. A car is the most flexible and the train is a comfortable alternative. To arrange a car and your Braj darshan, call or WhatsApp +91 7302265809.

Rewari, the brass and industrial city of southern Haryana and Vrindavan, the temple town of Krishna, sit within an easy three-hour drive, thanks to the Western Peripheral Expressway, which lets you skip Delhi and sweep to Braj. There is a catch worth knowing, though: the shortest route is actually the slowest. For Rewari's many devotees of Krishna, the journey to his land is quick, if you take the right road. Here, from one born in Braj, is the complete guide to the Rewari to Vrindavan distance, the routes both ways and the best way to travel. Plan your visit with our Mathura Vrindavan tour packages.

Key takeaways

  • Rewari to Vrindavan is about 151 to 177 km, roughly 3 to 4 hours by road.

  • The quickest route uses the Western Peripheral Expressway and NH 44, about 163 km in around 3 hours.

  • The shortest route via NH 44 (about 151 km) is the slowest, at around 4 hours through Delhi.

  • So the longer expressway route is faster; take it unless traffic says otherwise.

  • A car is the most flexible; the train is a comfortable alternative.

  • Vrindavan lies only 14 km beyond Mathura, an easy pairing.

I am Gurudutt, born in Gokul in the Mathura district, guiding pilgrims through Braj since 2018, more than 50,000 of them. Many who come to us travel from Rewari and southern Haryana. Here is everything you need, told by someone who receives these travellers and knows the roads: the exact distances and routes both ways, the train and other options, the best way to travel and the darshan at the end.

Rewari to Vrindavan distance and driving routes

By road, the distance from Rewari to Vrindavan is about 151 to 177 km and the drive takes roughly 3 to 4 hours. The key is to skirt Delhi on the Western Peripheral Expressway rather than drive through the city. There are three main ways.

Rewari to Vrindavan road routes. Approximate; the Western Peripheral Expressway route is quickest, though not the shortest.

Here is the key point: the NH 44 route through Delhi is the shortest at 151 km, but the city traffic makes it the slowest at about 4 hours; the Western Peripheral Expressway route, though a little longer at 163 km, is quicker at about 3 hours, sweeping around Delhi on the fast road. So the longer route is the better choice. A car that knows the roads picks the best line; our Mathura Vrindavan taxi service can carry you the whole way and on to Vrindavan.

Vrindavan to Rewari distance (the return journey)

The road back is much the same, about 151 to 161 km and 3 to 4 hours, with the same choice of routes. If you are planning the reverse leg, these are the main routes.

Rewari to Vrindavan by train

The train is a comfortable option, as Rewari is a major junction on the Delhi line. There is no major station in Vrindavan, so you travel to Mathura Junction, the railhead for Braj and drive the last 14 km to Vrindavan. Trains run via the Delhi side, taking around 4 to 6 hours; from Mathura, we can meet you.

  • Where to board: trains run from Rewari Junction towards Mathura Junction, usually via Delhi.

  • How long it takes: roughly 4 to 6 hours depending on the service.

  • The last leg: from Mathura Junction, Vrindavan is about 14 km, around 30 minutes.

  • Book ahead: reserve your Rewari to Mathura ticket in advance in the tourist season.

Rewari to Vrindavan by air

For this distance, flying makes no sense. Rewari has no airport; the nearest major one is Delhi, which the Western Peripheral Expressway skirts anyway, so you would drive. A car or the train between Rewari and Braj is far simpler than any flight.

  • Rewari has no airport.

  • Nearest major airport: Delhi, skirted by the Western Peripheral Expressway.

  • Coming soon: the new Noida International Airport at Jewar will be near Braj.

  • For the Rewari to Vrindavan journey itself, a car or the train is the answer.

Rewari to Vrindavan by bus

Buses run from Rewari towards Delhi and on towards Mathura, taking around 4 to 6 hours and are the budget option. But they are slower and less comfortable over this distance, so a car or the train is far easier for most travellers.

The best way to travel

The right choice depends on your time and budget. A private car is the most flexible, taking you door to door, around Delhi on the expressway and on to Vrindavan; the train to Mathura is a comfortable alternative; and the bus is the cheapest but slowest. The table sets them side by side.

A quick comparison. For Rewari to Braj, a car or the train is easiest.

Breaking the journey and what to see on the way

This is a quick half-day drive, best on the Western Peripheral Expressway to skip Delhi. Mathura, the birthplace of Krishna, is the goal and Vrindavan lies just 14 km beyond, so you may take the Krishna Janmabhoomi and drive on to the temple town. The two towns are always visited together and the short drive makes an easy day trip from Rewari.

What to see when you arrive

Once in Braj, the darshans begin. In Vrindavan, see the beloved Banke Bihari temple, the marble Prem Mandir with its evening light show, the kirtan of ISKCON and the evening Yamuna aarti at Kesi Ghat. In nearby Mathura, see the Dwarkadhish temple and the Vishram Ghat. With the two towns only 14 km apart, you can see the best of both; for an overnight stay, see our Mathura Vrindavan hotels.

The best time to visit

The cool months of October to March are much the best for the journey and for Braj, pleasant on the road and at the temples, while the summer is hot. Note that December and January can bring dense fog on the northern plains and expressway, which slows the drive. Braj is gloriously alive, though very crowded, during Janmashtami, Holi and Diwali. See our best time to visit Mathura Vrindavan guide and the Mathura Vrindavan festivals calendar.

Tips for the journey

  • Take the Western Peripheral Expressway with NH 44; though longer, it is quicker than NH 44 through Delhi.

  • Only drive through Delhi on NH 44 if you have a reason to; it is slower.

  • The train from Rewari to Mathura, via Delhi, is a comfortable alternative.

  • See both towns; Vrindavan is only 14 km beyond Mathura.

  • Avoid the December-January fog on the plains and expressway if you can or allow extra time.

  • Come October to March for the most pleasant weather.

The honest bit

Honest words on the Rewari to Vrindavan journey, from one born in Braj. This is a quick three-hour drive on the right road, but the routes hold a genuine catch: the shortest by distance, NH 44 through Delhi at 151 km, is actually the slowest at 4 hours because of the city traffic, while the longer Western Peripheral Expressway route at 163 km is quicker at about 3 hours, sweeping around the city. A map may push you through Delhi; do not, take the expressway, as a local driver would. The train from Rewari is comfortable too. Vrindavan is only 14 km beyond Mathura, so see both. Beware the winter fog. Distances and times are approximate.

Why Experience My India is the right choice

I was born in Gokul in the Mathura district and I welcome travellers from Rewari and southern Haryana every week. Guiding since 2018, more than 50,000 pilgrims, 4.5 stars on Google, WhatsApp first, 8 AM to 9 PM daily. Whether you drive or train in, we meet you at Mathura Junction or your doorstep, take the quickest route around Delhi, carry you around the temples of Vrindavan and Mathura in the right order, walk you into the old-town temples cars cannot reach and arrange any seva, with no touts. One clear fare and never a charge for free darshan.

Tip from Gurudutt: do not let the map lead you through Delhi on the shorter NH 44; the Western Peripheral Expressway route, though a few kilometres longer, is faster and far smoother, sweeping around the city. Set out from Rewari early, take that road and you will reach Braj by late morning for the darshan, with time to see both Mathura and Vrindavan and end at the Yamuna aarti before driving home the same day. A quick, easy day trip to the whole heart of Krishna's land.
